Why a photo may stay above your target file size
Troubleshoot a missed target without silently changing required dimensions.
Why compression has a limit
A busy background, hair, fabric and camera noise all contribute detail. Squeezing that into very few bytes can damage the image. FormFile reports when its compression settings cannot reach your target at the dimensions selected.
Fix the source first
Check whether you accidentally entered a print measurement in the pixel fields, or MB instead of KB. Crop unused surroundings and choose the output format the portal actually accepts. For a photograph, JPEG usually gives more useful compression controls than PNG in this tool.
Choose what may change
If the portal fixes both dimensions, preserve them. If it specifies only a maximum width, a smaller allowed image may help. Do not reduce a required 300-pixel width to 100 just to get a green byte-size result.
Stop at a readable output
Inspect the face or document text after processing. If the target still fails, keep the original and reconsider the permitted settings. Repeatedly saving a damaged JPEG cannot reverse earlier detail loss.
