Rename an attachment without accidentally changing its format
Give files clear names while preserving the type the portal accepts.
A name and a format are different
Renaming changes the label attached to a file. It does not change the encoded contents. A PNG called photo.jpg remains PNG data and may fail an upload check. Use Convert image format when a real conversion is required.
Choose a meaningful base name
Use a simple description such as photo, signature or marksheet. Avoid unnecessary personal information in filenames, especially if files may be shared. Follow any naming pattern specified by the receiving institution.
Rename the prepared copy
Open Rename files, choose the file and enter the new base name. FormFile preserves the extension when creating the renamed output. Inspect the resulting name for accidental repeated endings or confusing spaces before downloading.
Verify before replacing anything
Open the renamed file and check its content, size and extension. Keep the original until you are satisfied. If an upload still fails, investigate the actual format, dimensions or byte limit rather than repeatedly changing the name.
