Why PNG may not reach a small KB target
Understand the PNG limitation before switching formats or dimensions.
PNG behaves differently here
FormFile uses the browser's PNG encoder. Its JPEG-style quality adjustment does not make PNG progressively smaller in the same way. As a result, a detailed PNG may remain above a tight limit even after you enter the target.
Decide what must be preserved
For a photograph on an opaque background, JPEG may be an acceptable alternative if the portal permits it. For artwork that needs transparency or exact edges, changing formats can remove a useful feature. Start with the receiving requirements rather than the smallest possible number.
Try a permitted change
Crop genuinely unused margins or reduce dimensions within the allowed range. If JPEG is accepted, choose JPEG and run the target-size tool again from the original. Avoid converting back and forth between formats, which makes it harder to track quality.
Read the status
The output's actual byte count is the deciding measurement. A file labelled outside the target should not be treated as compliant just because you selected 50 KB. Keep the original until the destination accepts a checked copy.
