Check the original first
If the PDF already fits the portal's ceiling, unnecessary compression may be harmful. Open PDF target size, choose the document and enter the actual maximum in KB or MB. Leave Minimum size blank unless a lower bound is specified.
Understand this tool's method
When compression is needed, FormFile renders the PDF pages as images and rebuilds the document. This can reduce the size, but it removes searchable text, links, interactive fields and digital-signature validation. Keep the original, especially for signed certificates.
Inspect the result
Preview every page and zoom into the smallest text. Check that page count, orientation and information are preserved. The output may still exceed an extremely tight limit; FormFile reports that instead of silently guaranteeing compliance.
Choose a safe next step
Remove genuinely unnecessary pages if the application allows it, or create clearer source scans. Do not reduce a document until numbers become unreadable merely to reach a target. The receiving portal's acceptance remains the final check.
