Convert centimetres or inches into image dimensions
Use print units carefully when preparing photos for an upload portal.
Read the units before typing
A width of 3.5 centimetres is not 3.5 pixels. Pixels describe the digital image grid; centimetres and inches describe a physical size at a chosen pixel density. An upload portal may care about one, the other, or both.
FormFile's conversion
The image tool uses 300 DPI when converting centimetres or inches into pixels. One inch therefore maps to 300 pixels. A 3.5 cm width maps to about 413 pixels after rounding. Choose the appropriate Dimension unit before entering a print measurement.
Prefer explicit portal pixels
If the application supplies exact pixel dimensions, enter those values with Pixels selected. Do not substitute a familiar passport-photo size from another application. There is no single measurement that covers every institution's requirements.
What this does not guarantee
A pixel conversion does not guarantee that every printer or receiving program will interpret physical-size metadata the same way. Confirm the output's actual pixel dimensions. For printing, check the print dialog's scaling as well as the file itself.
