Photos, signatures & scans
Take a phone photo of a document that is easier to process
Improve lighting, alignment and framing before creating the PDF.
Set up the page
Place the document flat with all corners visible. Use even light and avoid a flash reflection over text. Hold the camera as parallel to the page as possible. A tilted shot can make one end of the page smaller and harder to read.
Keep enough detail
Capture a sharp original rather than a screenshot of the camera preview. Check small letters, stamps and document numbers before leaving the camera. Retake a blurred photo instead of assuming compression tools will fix it.
Clean up carefully
Open Clean up a scan, crop the surrounding table and make a small rotation adjustment if needed. The tool supports cropping and straightening by rotation, not automatic perspective correction. If the page is strongly trapezoidal, recapture it more squarely.
Build the attachment
Once each page is readable, create the PDF and apply the portal's byte ceiling. Review the finished PDF's text at a useful zoom, because combining pages and compressing can change how comfortably it can be read.
